Insurance
I am considered an “out of network” provider and do not participate in any health insurance or managed care company plans. This means that I do not file claims on your behalf or negotiate rates with insurance companies. I am not a Medicare or Medicaid provider, and you must forgo the use of those benefits if proceeding with my services. HSA and FSA cards may be used for payment of services.
A statement/receipt will be provided at the end of each appointment that should include all information necessary to receive reimbursement from your insurance company. If planning to submit to insurance, it is recommended that you contact your insurance company in advance to verify that your benefits include out-of-network coverage and the details of this. You will then be reimbursed directly by your insurance company based on the terms of your policy.
A Note On Out-Of-Network Services
While the fee for out-of-network services may initially be higher, benefits of out-of-network psychotherapy services include:

The ability to develop an individualized treatment plan (e.g., length, intensity and type of therapy) based on clinical need and evidence-based practice as opposed to regulated protocols imposed by third party payers

The choice to not involve any third parties in billing or paperwork

An investment in evidence-based treatment that most often reduces or even eliminates the need for such services over time, often resulting in lower out-of-pocket costs in the long run
Individual Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Fees
** Please note the below changes to billing/pricing effective September 1, 2022 **
Diagnostic Evaluation: This 90 minute appointment is billed at a flat-rate of $325 and includes the in person appointment, review of previous records, and initial contact with other providers and/or school if indicated.
Therapy sessions: Following the evaluation, we will develop a treatment plan based on your specific needs. Fees are based on a 45 minute time block ($185) and are pro-rated so that you are only billed for the actual time used. Sometimes, extended sessions may be needed and will be planned In advance.
Other treatment-related services: Scheduled or unscheduled phone calls and report writing are billed based on actual time used at a rate of $185/45 minutes, pro-rated in 5 minute increments.
Payment
Payments are collected at the time of the service. Payments may be made by check, debit or credit card (including HSA or FSA cards if services are approved for charge). A credit card must be kept on file to secure services, though you may opt to use a different form of payment anytime.
Please note that phone sessions, drive time to community or home-based sessions and time collaborating with other professionals will be billed at typical session rates.
Cancellation and No Show Policy
Cancellation of intake appointments with less than 72 hours notice will result in a $150 fee.
For all sessions following the intake appointment, 24 hours notice is required for cancellation or rescheduling. Less notice will result in 50% session charge. Subsequent late cancellations will be charged the full scheduled session fee. No shows (missing an appointment without providing notice) are charged the full scheduled session fee. Repeated late cancellations or no shows may result in your treatment being terminated.
Technology and Social Media
E-mail can be a useful means of communication, particularly for scheduling and brief questions. Please note, that while I do not share e-mails with anyone, I can not guarantee the privacy of information shared by e-mail.
I check e-mail once daily Monday through Friday, so you can expect a response within 24 hours. I do not check e-mail on weekends. As such, matters requiring immediate attention are better addressed by a call.
I do not use text messaging in my practice for privacy and reliability reasons.
I maintain professional social media accounts and welcome you to follow me. Please understand, though, that I do not connect with patients through my personal accounts (e.g., do not accept Facebook friend requests, do not follow patients through Twitter).

Fees for speaking engagements and trainings are determined based on length of presentation, preparation required, and travel. Contact me to discuss your needs.
